DNV is seeking a MOU (Mobile Offshore Unit) Surveyor to join our Rio de Janeiro office in the Area South America, as part of the Maritime Region Americas, consisting of a team of approximately 60 committed employees taking care of various technical services. These services are related to the following disciplines:FiS – Fleet in service, ships and offshore units in operationCMC - Certification of Materials and Components for vessels and offshore installationsNB - New Building classification for vessels and offshore installations There are five office locations in the Area: Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Macaé, Buenos Aires and Viña del Mar. Beside this, we have people working from a home office, to cover the geographical needs of our clients. We aim to be the front runner in innovation, digitalization and customer centricity. For various disciplines new regimes are continuously introduced. Recent examples are electronic certificates, remote inspections, 3D printing, sensor-based maintenance, alternative fuels and now heading towards autonomous shipping. Customer needs and footprint reduction are key elements in this. In order to support the offshore activities, we are looking for a Surveyor to join our Offshore Units in Operation team based in Rio de Janeiro. You will be member of a highly qualified team serving the maritime industry and various offshore unit types (such as FPSOs, Drill ships and Column Stabilized Units) calling in offshore locations in the South American coast. Main tasks Perform surveys to ensure compliance with Rules (Applicable International Conventions), Regulations, Instructions, Guidelines and quality requirements of the organization and the instructions of the line management Work in offshore production/drilling/supporting units during operation Work on-site surveys during dry-docking and in service Work on major vessel conversions, alterations or any technical matters involving all type of vessels Maintain the confidentiality of Clients' business, processes, designs, developments and documentation at all times Communicate to line management at the earliest appropriate opportunity if in receipt of information that is important to the reputation or integrity of the organization Exhibit customer oriented focus through promoting DNV onboard or on-site, and by acting as a technical resource for customer questions Manage a group of customers and interact with colleagues from all over the world to follow up on their needs Be the advisor of our customers to guide them in the regulatory landscape of maritime industry and support their development When applicable, to supervise the work of others and ensure that it is carried out as above and in an efficient and economic manner Support Key Account Managers (KAM) as Technical Support Manager (TSM) DNV is an Equal Opportunity Employer and gives consideration for employment to qualified applicants without regard to gender, religion, race, national or ethnic origin, cultural background, social group, disability, sexual orientation, gender identity, marital status, age or political opinion. Position: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Materials or Metallurgical Engineering Minimum of 7 years’ experience working as Engineer, previous Experience in the Maritime industry as a Surveyor (desirable) Fluent in Portuguese and excellent written and spoken business-standard English is essential Registration at Brazilian Engineering Council (CREA) is mandatory Prepared for active support of our processes on the way of transformation in a new digital world Attitude behavior – to be positive and supporter clients Understanding of class & statutory survey work and responsibilities Understanding and experience of Non Destructive Testing NDT is an advantage Physical abilities necessary to perform regular functions of the job: Climbing ladders , working in confined spaces and inside tanks, helicopter and crew boat transfers launches, voyage surveys Hold a valid driver's license Availability to work outside normal working hours Support to technical and administrative demands from clients Personal: Possess high standards of professional integrity, willing to set an example to others Empathy and problem-solving mindset towards our clients – customer service orientation Excellent communication skills, verbal and in writing Capable of effectively expressing opinion and resolving contentious issues sensitively and in a pragmatic manner A team player with a positive attitude and willingness to collaborate across groups and other offices for shared goals and aims Able to combine theoretical knowledge and practical skills Possesses a high degree of adaptability and flexibility in an environment of constant change Eager to learn and develop and be willing to train and cascade experience and skills to peers with the Area Good commercial awareness and solution orientated (right quality) mindset Willingness to travel and work offshore in South America Be open to internal transfers (national and international)
