Lunar is a Swiss-Brazilian startup with a vision to unlock the latest developments in AI and LLMs to domain experts. We believe that the promised breakthroughs of AI will come from its applications to specialized domains, such as bio-medicine, media and news, or finance. Motivated by this vision, we set out to create a platform for building powerful AI systems that can push application domains, such as the ones mentioned above (but not limited to), to their next level.
As exciting and potentially world changing as they may be, the AI promises are hard to accomplish in practice and the above makes no exception. So, we are looking for a colleague with experience as a full stack developer, for an initial 10-month collaboration. This position would offer a unique opportunity to gain international experience working at the IDIAP AI Institute in Switzerland, developing the Lunar platform, with the possibility of extension in Brazil and Europe.

Responsibilities: Develop complex solutions and systems around AI models such as LLMs; Test, deploy, and maintain AI systems; Collaborate with other engineers to integrate AI into broader system architectures; Prototype and develop JavaScript-based user interfaces for AI systems. Stay current with AI trends and suggest improvements to existing systems and workflows.
Main requirements:
Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field; Masters (strictu sensu) or PhD in Computer Science or related field - officially recognized in Brazil; Residency or flexibility to travel to Rio de Janeiro; Flexibility to travel to Switzerland; Experience with workflow orchestration tools, such as Prefect (preferred), Airflow , Dagster , etc; Solid understanding and experience in system design and object-oriented development in Python; Experience with machine learning, deep learning and NLP, preferably (Large) Language Models; Knowledge of REST API , service integration and containers; Knowledge of database management systems such as Postgresql; Knowledge of React and NextJS frameworks; Familiarity with HTML/CSS/JS.
