Job Description: As a Controls Engineer, you will be responsible for the design, development, and integration of advanced control systems for various material handling and automation projects. You will play a critical role in migrating and upgrading existing systems to modern platforms, ensuring the seamless transition and enhanced performance of our clients' operations. We are currently seeking an experienced Controls Engineer with a strong background in Siemens Step 7 Classic and TIA Portal, as well as expertise in Structure Control Language (SCL) and various other programming languages. As a part of our dynamic team, you will contribute to the success of our projects by leveraging your technical skills and understanding of automation systems. Key Responsibilities: - Design, program, and troubleshoot control systems using Siemens Step 7 Classic and TIA Portal. - Write and implement TL Language and SCL for PLCs and other control systems. - Lead and delegate tasks within projects to ensure efficient progress and high-quality outcomes. - Collaborate with aproject teams to understand the intent of system migrations and integrations. - Provide guidance and support for the setup and configuration of Siemens Automation systems. - Analyze and understand existing codebases, spending significant time working with SCL and Structured Text. - Continuously update knowledge of control languages, including Java and Python, and apply this knowledge to control system development. - Mentor junior engineers and participate in knowledge-sharing activities. Qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. - 5+ years of industrial experience in controls engineering. - Extensive experience with Siemens Step 7 Classic and TIA Portal. - Proficiency in PLC programming languages, including Ladder Logic, Function Block Diagram (FBD), Statement List (STL), and Structure Text (SCL). - Experience leading control system projects in an industrial setting. Desired Skills: - Strong understanding of the SCL framework and JavaScript. - Familiarity with Java, Python, or other programming languages. - Strong knowledge of automation processes, especially in material handling (e.g., conveyor systems, storage and retrieval systems, monorail systems). - Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. - Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks effectively. - Superior communication and leadership abilities. Tools and Technology: - Siemens Step 7 Classic and TIA Portal software. - PLCs and HMI interfaces. - Networking and communication protocols. - Version control and project management tools. Location: - This is a remote position, allowing for work from home or any other suitable location.
