What we’re looking for
We are looking for a Senior Flexible Pipeline Specialist to join our Global Pipelines Team. This team has extensive expertise and a proven track record of providing independent assurance for design and operational aspects of offshore flexible pipeline systems. The team at LR covers a broad range of flexible pipe engineering aspects such as flexible pipe cross section design, pipe qualification, material qualification, manufacturing processes, global system design and design of ancillary components .
We are looking for a highly skilled and motivated engineer who has comprehensive knowledge and understanding of flexible pipe engineering and who can effectively interface with both internal and external stakeholders to deliver high quality assurance services.

The role
The role will include the appraisal of flexible pipe design methodologies, qualification programs, project specific cross-section designs and global configurations. As such the successful candidate will require strong analytical skills, a strong understanding of engineering fundamentals and specialist knowledge in the design and analysis of flexible pipe structures.
The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to appraise flexible pipe solutions, ensuring they meet industry standards and operational requirements.
Perform complex assessments and provide specialized advice for service delivery, research, or development work within defined parameters, including budget constraints and contractual requirements. Produce deliverables within agreed parameters and formats, taking responsibility to review colleagues' work as requested. Discuss and present deliverables to internal and external clients at a senior level, offering alternative solutions when appropriate. Undertake administrative tasks as required, adhering to current processes and procedures. Assess and recommend the time and value of work for internal and external clients within agreed fee structures and commercial aspects of contracts. Make recommendations based on client feedback to improve service delivery and contribute to business development. Contribute to internal and external client management as needed. Conduct activities in accordance with internal procedures, accreditation schemes, legislation, and industry standards. Pursue Continuous Professional Development to maintain a high level of discipline knowledge and awareness. Mentor and coach other technical employees to facilitate effective technical knowledge transfer and application. Manage projects as applicable, including monitoring project progress, expenditures against budget, and compliance with contractual requirements.
What you bring
In addition to being a strong team player who displays integrity and professionalism at all times, the following attributes would be ideal for this role:
Specialist knowledge of unbonded flexible pipeline cross section design methodologies, pipeline qualification, material qualification and manufacturing processes. Specialist knowledge in key areas of flexible pipe system design engineering, including relevant design codes and current good engineering practice. Prior experience with a flexible pipe manufacturer is highly advantageous. Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering. Effective communications in written and spoken English with the ability to prepare, discuss and present deliverables to a client at a senior level.
The following attributes would also be beneficial to the successful candidate:
Prior direct experience of design appraisal would be an advantage. Knowledge of Type Approval would be an advantage. Experience of performing global dynamic analysis of flexible pipeline systems using Orcaflex, Flexcom or Abaqus would be an advantage. Experience in design of flexible pipeline ancillary components. Project management and cross discipline coordination skills. Membership of an appropriate professional institution and working towards chartered status.
