The Director of International Supply Chain is the focal point for all planning, production, logistics and compliance related activities. This particular role will require the right candidate with the requisite amount of experience in problem solving in a highly dynamic environment. This role will oversee with the International production team to ensure production orders are placed on calendar, products are set up properly and orders are properly summarized from all international locations. The Director supports production with execution and coordination of inventory planning from raw materials to finished goods from origin to fulfillment center. The role will oversee the International Planner and establish processes and procedures which mirror the US planning team. They will build out accompanying reporting that will align with US formats for inclusion in all S&OP meetings. This role assists with reporting of key performance indicators, performance data, and miscellaneous metrics with suggestions for process improvements and robust data reporting/action. The Director will identify and escalate issues as necessary to the proper channels. This role will plan, prepare, issue and control supply plans to maintain ideal inventory levels across the International business – using methodologies such as level loading to maintain consistent throughput in our fulfillment centers. This role will partner with the US production team and external factories to issue production forecasts and plan capacity at external factories. This role will work with the International fulfillment centers on inbound and outbound flow and partner with operations on domestic embellishment forecasts. This role will coordinate all inbound shipments and make judgement calls on what types and methods of freight to use to ensure on time delivery while balancing budgetary needs. This role will liaise with the Director of Compliance and escalate issues as necessary including new International compliance requirements as they arise. Finally, this role will collaborate with Finance to meet financial and inventory turnover targets and will provide Finance long-range plans on inventory growth. The ideal candidate for this position will be extremely well organized and detail oriented.
Essential Functions
- Develop and forecast supply plans by brand and product category to support the demand plans
- Manage inventory reporting for all channels.
- Establish regular review of KPIs – turn, sell-thru and inventory – and react to changes in demand and logistics.
Own full lifecycle of products including season code maintenance, aging and disposal via donation or closeout. Coordinate closeouts with International and Domestic teams as needed
Manage the Logistics team and have oversight on all freight purchases while maintaining annual freight budgets
Manage Supply Planning team and oversee growth and development of personnel within the team
Identify opportunities to maximize throughput at vendors by combining international quantities with US orders
Build monthly production plans out 24-36 months to combine with US plans
Identify vendors whose volumes are impacted by royalty bearing businesses (non PM/G4 issued PO’s) where we need to relocate volume or plan capacity
Build monthly inbound receipt plans with operations to optimize flow of goods (inbound+outbound)
Direct logistics on flow of goods to maximize ATS bringing forward key styles to maximize allocation conversion
Level load inbound receipts by bringing in essentials off season to maintain internal activity drivers and maintain level load production at factories
Build tools to drive visibility and decision making (air/sea), in partnership with logistics, and alignment to forecast/orders to maximize productivity of inbound logistics spend
Build framework and tools for line scheduling as input to the supply plan and collaborate with production to turn this on in key suppliers
Develop Supply Chain capability roadmap elements:
- Prepacks & Case Level ASNs – work to align systems / factories / decision making to maximize flow
- Lead in the process to spec/build/configure planning systems to inform SKU plan
- Long range partner in planning the supply chain roadmap, next DC design
Communicate International needs to Line Review Director and Merchant to inform total company SKU plan development needs
Ensure alignment of merchandise buy plans, budgets, sales forecasts, and other business goals to achieve financial targets
Develop and forecast seasonal sales for DTC and Wholesale and Distributor channels and present to management for approval prior to placing factory orders. Establish the open-to-buy plan at the product category, style and SKU level
- Maintain a rolling in-season forecast to project end of season sell thru
- Provide channel forecast quantities for monthly seasonal and essential inventory buys. Participate in the buys to make purchasing decisions based on total company forecast need, timing, and MOQs
- Maintain demand plans for all channels and regions, and partner with the US Essentials planner on implication to seasonal changes to the essentials line
Work with the sales teams regarding inventory callouts, event needs, and assortment concerns to resolve issues or advise strategy
Maintain weekly reviews of current season and future season open to sell units, monitor when inventory is running low and identify reorder opportunities
Oversee adoption of new technology tools / systems on the international team
Proactively communicate to sales team on seasonal sales and inventory strategy, and gain feedback for buys and future season planning
Propose strategies to drive product sell through in order to maximize profitability on the life of an item or product category
Actively listen, engage and respond to business partners and leadership
Perform ad hoc analysis based on historical performance by channel, region, product category, price point, etc
Competencies
- Extremely proficient with Microsoft Excel.
- Travel to International Offices on a regular basis as needed by the business

Desired Education And Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Business or related field
- 5-7 years of inventory planning experience – preferably with a consumer brand.
- 1-3 years experience inbound logistics planning
- 1-3 years in production
- Apparel knowledge and luxury brand experience is strongly preferred.
- Knowledge of forecasting software related to demand & supply planning is a plus
